PCBP1

PCBP1, also known as poly(rC) binding protein 1, has alternative names such as HNRP X, HNRPE1, hnRNP-X, HEL-S-85, and hnRNP-E1. PCBP1 is an RNA-binding protein with three KH domains that play crucial roles in its RNA binding. PCBP1 is involved in multiple cellular pathways, including the splicing of precursor mRNAs, mRNA stability, and the silencing or enhancement of mRNA translation processes. It functions in various physiological processes, such as transcriptional and post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression, as well as RNA replication and translation regulation during poliovirus infection. Additionally, PCBP1 is associated with several diseases, including cancer, autoimmune disorders, and neurodegenerative diseases.
