PGAM1

PGAM1 (Phosphoglycerate Mutase 1) is an enzyme that catalyzes the reversible conversion of 3-phosphoglycerate to 2-phosphoglycerate in glycolysis. It is also known as PGAM-M and is a crucial regulator of glycolytic flux in cells. PGAM1 is involved in the Warburg effect, which is characterized by increased glycolysis in cancer cells.
The dysregulation of PGAM1 has been linked to various diseases, especially cancers. It plays an important role in multiple signaling pathways related to cell growth and survival, such as the PI3K/Akt pathway. In drug development, targeting PGAM1 has emerged as a potential therapeutic strategy for cancer, with several compounds under pre - clinical investigation.
