RBPMS

The RNA-binding protein Musashi (RBPMS) is an RNA-binding protein primarily involved in post-transcriptional regulation by binding to target mRNA transcripts, influencing their stability, splicing, and translation. It plays a critical role in maintaining stem cell pluripotency and regulating cell proliferation and differentiation in various tissues, including the nervous system and gastrointestinal tract.
RBPMS has been linked to several signaling pathways, such as the Notch and Wnt pathways, which are essential for embryonic development and tissue homeostasis. Dysregulation of RBPMS expression is associated with cancer progression, particularly in colorectal and pancreatic cancers, where it may act as a tumor suppressor or oncogene depending on the context. Currently, no specific drugs targeting RBPMS are in clinical development, but its RNA-binding activity makes it a potential candidate for antisense oligonucleotide-based therapies.
