RXFP1

RXFP1 encodes the relaxin family peptide receptor 1, commonly known as RXFP1 or LGR7, a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) primarily activated by relaxin-2. Upon ligand binding, it activates adenylate cyclase, increasing intracellular cAMP levels, and modulates MAPK/ERK and PI3K/Akt signaling pathways, regulating cell proliferation, differentiation, and extracellular matrix remodeling.
Aberrant RXFP1 expression is linked to cardiovascular diseases, such as heart failure and hypertension, due to its roles in vasodilation and myocardial protection. Emerging therapeutic strategies target RXFP1 with small-molecule agonists and peptide analogs for treating fibrotic disorders and cardiovascular conditions, with preclinical studies demonstrating efficacy in reducing cardiac fibrosis and improving vascular function.
