SPI1

SPI1, or SIP1 protein, alias PU.1, Spi-1. It is a transcription factor encoded by the human SPI1 gene and is a member of the ETS family.
SPI1 is expressed in a wide range of cell types, and plays a key role in the development of myeloid and lymphoid lineage cells in particular. Its mechanism of action involves binding to DNA, regulating the expression of downstream genes, and influencing cell proliferation, differentiation, and survival. In the central nervous system, SPI1 can affect microglia transcriptome and phenotypic alterations and regulate neuroinflammatory responses. In addition, SPI1 is involved in aerobic glycolysis in the tumor microenvironment, promoting tumor cell metabolism and invasiveness.
Abnormal expression of SPI1 has been associated with a variety of diseases, including cerebral hemorrhage, Alzheimer's disease, and certain types of cancer, making it a potential therapeutic target.
