TFEB

TFEB is a member of the alkaline helix loop helix leucine zipper (bHLH Zip) transcription factor family. TFEB is closely related to various cellular processes, notably autophagy, lysosome biogenesis, and metabolic regulation. TFEB's activity is modulated by phosphorylation and post-translational modifications, which dictate its translocation from the cytoplasm to the nucleus to activate target gene expression under stress conditions. Serving as a master regulator in the autophagy/lysosome pathway, TFEB influences energy balance, stress response, and lysosomal function. TFEB is implicated in diseases such as lysosomal storage disorders, neurodegenerative conditions, cancer, and metabolic issues. Thus, TFEB might be as a promising target for therapeutic intervention in clinical and regenerative applications.
