UBAC1

UBAC1 is a human cell-expressed protein that serves as a non-catalytic subunit of the E3 ubiquitin ligase complex. It functions as an adapter within the KPC complex, facilitating the transfer of ubiquitinated target proteins from RNF123/KPC1 to the 26S proteasome for degradation. UBAC1 also plays a role in the NF-κB signaling pathway by promoting the maturation of the NFKB1 component. This protein is implicated in the regulation of cellular processes such as the cell cycle, cell differentiation, and inflammatory responses. For instance, UBAC1 influences NF-κB activation through its action in the TLR3 signaling pathway in human keratinocytes, interacting with the CARD14/CARMA2sh-TANK complex. The expression and functionality of UBAC1 are linked to various diseases, including cancer and autoinflammatory conditions.
