VASH2

VASH2, also known as vasohibin-2, is a protein encoded by the human gene VASH2. It is a homolog of VASH1 and plays a crucial role in angiogenesis. VASH2 promotes tumor angiogenesis and progression through paracrine activity and evasion of tumor immunity. It interacts with microtubules and exhibits tubulin carboxypeptidase (TCP) activity. The protein is involved in various signaling pathways, including those related to microtubule function and cell cycle regulation. VASH2 is expressed in various cancers, such as pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, ovarian cancer, and lung squamous cell carcinoma, where it contributes to tumor growth and chemoresistance. Research on VASH2 has led to the development of potential therapeutic strategies targeting this protein, including the use of CRISPR/Cas9 for gene editing and the development of TCP inhibitors for enhancing chemosensitivity.
