VCAN

VCAN, full name versican, also known as proteoglycan. It is an extracellular matrix protein regulating matrix remodeling, cell adhesion and inflammation, maintaining tissue structure and homeostasis. Abnormal VCAN overexpression promotes tumor invasion and metastasis, and correlates with arthritis and fibrosis. VCAN-targeted inhibitors are under preclinical research for anti-tumor and fibrotic therapy.
