ZG16B, the zymogen granule protein 16 homolog B, pancreatic adenocarcinoma up-regulated factor, alias PAUF, JCLN2, HRPE773, PRO1567. ZG16B is a mammalian lectin containing a p-prism structure with the ability to regulate cell adhesion, metastasis, apoptosis, angiogenesis, and cell-cell interactions to recognize pathogens.
The mechanism of action of ZG16B involves the activation of multiple signaling pathways, such as CXCR4, β-catenin, TPL2/MEK/ERK, FAK/Scr, etc., to promote tumor cell migration and angiogenesis.
ZG16B is abnormally expressed in a variety of tumors, especially highly expressed in pancreatic cancer, and plays an important role in tumor cell proliferation, adhesion, migration, and invasion, making it a potential tumor diagnostic biomarker and therapeutic target.
