ADIPOR2

ADIPOR2 stands for Adiponectin Receptor 2. It is also known as PAQR2. This protein plays a crucial role in mediating the metabolic effects of adiponectin, an adipokine involved in energy homeostasis and insulin sensitivity. It activates multiple signaling pathways, such as AMP - activated protein kinase (AMPK) and peroxisome proliferator - activated receptor - alpha (PPAR - alpha) pathways.
Dysregulation of ADIPOR2 is associated with various diseases including type 2 diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular diseases. In drug development, targeting ADIPOR2 has emerged as a potential strategy. Some small - molecule agonists are under pre - clinical investigation, aiming to enhance its function and improve metabolic disorders.
