C4B

C4B, also known as Complement C4B, is one of the complement proteins. It has no widely - recognized common aliases. Mechanistically, C4B participates in the classical and lectin complement pathways. It covalently binds to immune complexes or pathogens, helping to clear them. This action occurs in the early stages of the immune response.
Deficiencies or mutations in C4B can be associated with autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus. Regarding drug development, researchers are exploring ways to regulate the activity of C4B to treat complement - related disorders. However, there is currently no specific drug on the market targeting C4B.
