CDH17

CDH17, also known as Cadherin-17 or Liver-Cell Adhesion Molecule (L-CAM), is a member of the cadherin superfamily and belongs to the calcium-dependent cell adhesion molecule family. It is a single-pass transmembrane cell adhesion molecule primarily expressed in tissues such as the liver, bile ducts, pancreas, digestive tract, and urinary tract.

The main function of CDH17 is to regulate cell adhesion, migration, and growth processes, and it is involved in various physiological and pathological processes. For example, in the liver-biliary system, CDH17 plays a role in cell adhesion between hepatocytes and bile duct epithelial cells and is also involved in the transport and secretion of bile acids. In pancreatic cancer, high expression of CDH17 is associated with tumor infiltration and metastasis.
