COL3A1

COL3A1 encodes type III collagen alpha-1 chain, a major component of extracellular matrix (ECM) in skin, blood vessels, and internal organs. This protein, often referred to as pro-alpha1(III) collagen, forms heterotrimers with type I collagen, contributing to tissue elasticity and structural integrity. It interacts with integrins and matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) to regulate ECM remodeling.
Mutations in COL3A1 cause vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (vEDS), characterized by arterial and organ rupture. The protein is linked to TGF-β signaling, influencing fibrosis and wound healing. Current research targets MMP inhibitors and gene therapies to mitigate vEDS complications, though no approved drugs specifically target COL3A1-related pathologies.

Overlay Peak curve showing HepG2 cells stained with CSB-RA907456A0HU (red line) at 1:100. The cells were fixed in 4% formaldehyde and permeated by 0.2% TritonX-100 for 10min. Then 10% normal goat serum to block non-specific protein-protein interactions followed by the antibody (1ug/1*10⁶cells) for 45min at 4℃. The secondary antibody used was FITC-conjugated goat anti-rabbit IgG (H+L) at 1/200 dilution for 35min at 4℃.Control antibody (green line) was Rabbit IgG (1ug/1*10⁶cells) used under the same conditions. Acquisition of >10, 000 events was performed.
