Corin, a transmembrane serine peptidase (alias: atrial natriuretic peptide-converting enzyme 2), is mainly expressed in the heart. It cleaves pro-atrial natriuretic peptide (pro-ANP) into active ANP, which activates the guanylyl cyclase-A (GC-A) pathway to promote vasodilation, sodium excretion, and blood pressure homeostasis.
Dysfunction of CORIN is associated with hypertension, heart failure, and preeclampsia—preeclamptic patients often show reduced placental CORIN levels. Drug development includes recombinant CORIN proteins and activators, currently in preclinical stages to boost ANP production and improve cardiac function and fluid balance.

After dewaxing and hydration, antigen retrieval was mediated by high pressure in a citrate buffer (pH 6.0). Section was blocked with 10% normal goat serum 30min at RT. Then primary antibody (1% BSA) was incubated at 4°C overnight. The primary is detected by a Goat anti-rabbit polymer IgG labeled by HRP and visualized using 0.05% DAB.
