CYP11B2

CYP11B2, also known as aldosterone synthase, is a key enzyme in the adrenal cortex responsible for cortisol and aldosterone synthesis. It catalyzes the final step in the production of aldosterone from 11-deoxycorticosterone. CYP11B2 operates within the mineralocorticoid and glucocorticoid signaling pathways, playing a crucial role in fluid balance and blood pressure regulation. Dysregulation of CYP11B2 is associated with conditions such as primary aldosteronism and hypertension.
