GREM2

The protein encoded by GREM2 is Gremlin 2, also known as Protein related to Dan and Cerberus 2 (PRDC). It functions as a secreted BMP antagonist, binding to BMPs (e.g., BMP2, BMP4) to inhibit their signaling, thereby regulating cell differentiation, proliferation, and tissue homeostasis.
GREM2 is involved in the BMP signaling pathway, with roles in embryonic development, bone formation, and angiogenesis. Dysregulation is linked to osteolytic diseases and certain cancers.
