INHBA

INHBA encodes the Inhibin, Beta A subunit protein, also known as Activin A. This protein is a member of the transforming growth factor - β superfamily. It plays a crucial role in various biological processes such as cell growth, differentiation, and apoptosis through binding to activin receptors and activating downstream SMAD - mediated signaling pathways.
Activin A is implicated in multiple diseases including cancer, where it can promote tumor growth and metastasis. In reproductive disorders, it also shows abnormal regulation. Regarding drug development, there are ongoing efforts to design inhibitors targeting the activin signaling pathway to treat related diseases, aiming to block its over - activation in pathological conditions.
