KISS1R

KISS1R, or the kiss 1 receptor, also known as GPR54, is a G protein-coupled receptor encoded by the KISS1R gene and expressed in the hypothalamus and pituitary gland. It binds to KISS1, activating Gq/11 proteins, which modulate intracellular calcium and PKC activity. KISS1R is crucial for reproductive system regulation, energy balance, and stress response, influencing sex hormone secretion and sexual behavior, as well as appetite and body composition. Its expression is associated with neuroendocrine diseases, making it a potential target for related disease research and treatment.
