LEPR

The LEPR gene encodes the leptin receptor, also known as OB-R. It is a single transmembrane-domain receptor which belongs to the cytokine receptor family. The leptin receptor plays a key role in regulating energy intake and energy expenditure, including appetite and metabolism. It functions by binding to the hormone leptin and activating multiple signaling pathways, such as the JAK - STAT pathway.
Dysregulation of the LEPR - associated signaling is linked to various diseases, notably obesity and type 2 diabetes.
