Glucocorticoid-induced TNFR-related protein (often abbreviated as GITR or TNFRSF18) is a member of TNFRSF expressed on effector T cells and regulatory T cells. Studies have shown that the combination of GITR and GITRL can promote the proliferation and cytokine production of CD4+ Teff and Treg cells, as well as drive the antitumor activity of CD8+ T cells. Related therapeutic agonists are currently available, which can activate Teff cells while depleting Tregs, but agonism with antibodies or GITRL may lead to different effects.
