C1QTNF3

C1QTNF3 encodes the C1q and tumor necrosis factor-related protein 3 (CTRP3), a secreted adipokine belonging to the CTRP family. CTRP3 modulates glucose homeostasis and lipid metabolism by activating the AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) signaling pathway, enhancing insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues like liver and skeletal muscle, and promoting fatty acid oxidation.
Dysregulated CTRP3 expression is associated with metabolic disorders: reduced levels correlate with obesity, type 2 diabetes, and atherosclerosis. Preclinical studies show recombinant CTRP3 administration improves insulin resistance and vascular function, but clinical development of CTRP3-targeted therapies is still in early stages, with no approved drugs available to date.

IHC image of CSB-PA003648LA01HU diluted at 1:100 and staining in paraffin-embedded human small intestine tissue performed on a Leica BondTM system. After dewaxing and hydration, antigen retrieval was mediated by high pressure in a citrate buffer (pH 6.0). Section was blocked with 10% normal goat serum 30min at RT. Then primary antibody (1% BSA) was incubated at 4°C overnight. The primary is detected by a biotinylated secondary antibody and visualized using an HRP conjugated SP system.
