CCR8

CCR8, C-C motif chemokine receptor 8, alias CD198, ChemR1, CKRL1, CKR-L1, CY6, GPRCL1, GPRCY6, GPR-CY6, TER-1, etc. CCR8 is a seven-transmembrane G-protein-coupled receptor belonging to the C-C subfamily of chemokine receptors. CCR8 mechanism of action involves binding of CCL1, CCL8, CCL16, and CCL18, with CCL1 being its major ligand. These interactions are involved in the developmental process of various tumors and mediate immune escape from tumors.
CCR8 is specifically highly expressed on regulatory T cells (Treg) mainly in the tumor microenvironment, and is lowly expressed in the surrounding normal tissues and peripheral blood, thus CCR8 can be used as a specific marker for Treg cells and is a promising therapeutic target and biomarker. The high CCR8 expression has been associated with a variety of cancers, including colorectal, breast, and gastric cancers, and is considered to be a potential specific marker for Treg at tumor sites, and a highly promising target for tumor immunity.
