CD79B, the B-cell receptor signaling subunit β, has aliases that include Igβ, B29, CD79b, and others. It is a component of the B cell receptor (BCR), encoded by the CD79B gene, and is mainly expressed on the surface of B cells.CD79B forms a heterodimer with CD79A (Igα) and participates in the BCR-mediated signaling process, which is important for the activation, proliferation, and differentiation of B cells.CD79B's mechanism of action is mainly through the combination of mIgM in the BCR complex with mIgM or CD79B acts mainly by binding to mIgM or mIgD in the BCR complex and transducing signals after antigen recognition. When BCR recognizes and binds antigen, CD79B activates Src family kinases such as Lyn, which in turn activates downstream tyrosine kinases such as Syk and Btk, triggering a signaling cascade. These signaling pathways include MAPK, PI3K/Akt, etc., which ultimately lead to biological effects such as intracellular calcium release, cell proliferation and differentiation .
In a biological sense, CD79B plays a key role in B cell development, maturation and function. It is not only involved in B cell receptor-mediated signaling, but may also be involved in the regulation of B cell survival and apoptosis. In addition, CD79B is highly expressed in a variety of B-cell-derived malignancies, such as diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), making it a potential target for the treatment of certain B-cell malignancies. Antibody-coupled drugs (ADCs) against CD79B, such as polatuzumab vedotin, have been developed for the treatment of certain types of non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) .
