HCRTR2, hypothalamic secretin receptor 2, alias OX2R, OXR2, ORXR2, etc . HCRTR2 is a G protein-coupled receptor that is mainly expressed in the cerebral cortex, hippocampus, and hypothalamus, etc. The mechanism of action of HCRTR2 is to trigger an increase in intracellular calcium levels by binding to the hypothalamic neuropeptides orexin A and orexin B, thereby regulating a variety of physiological functions, including the sleep-wake cycle, ingestive behaviors, and the stress response. The signaling pathway of HCRTR2 involves a variety of downstream molecules and pathways, including G-protein-coupled receptor signaling, G-protein-coupled receptor signaling activated by phosphoinositide C, and so on. The biological significance is mainly reflected in the regulation of the sleep-wake cycle, the activation of HCRTR2 can promote the waking state, and its abnormal function is closely related to the development of episodic somnambulism and other sleep disorders.
