PARK7

PARK7, also known as DJ-1 protein, is a multifunctional protein that plays a crucial role in cellular physiological processes. Its full length varies depending on the expression system, typically encompassing approximately 188 to 189 amino acids. The molecular weight of PARK7 ranges from approximately 23-25 kDa for the recombinant protein expressed in E. coli with a C-His tag and approximately 46.8 kDa for the protein expressed with an N-GST tag. Its structural features endow it with diverse functions, including acting as an oxidative stress sensor, redox-sensitive chaperone, and protease. PARK7 is involved in cellular oxidative stress response, apoptosis, proliferation, and the regulation of mitochondrial function, particularly playing a significant role in neuroprotective mechanisms.
