THBS1

THBS1, also known as Thrombospondin 1, and by other names such as THBS 1, THBS, Thbs1, Thrombospondin-1, TSP 1, TSP, and TSP1, is a secreted glycoprotein expressed in various cell types and encoded by the human cellular genome. The mechanism of action of THBS1 involves interactions with multiple cell surface receptors and extracellular matrix components, regulating processes such as cell adhesion, proliferation, migration, and immune responses.

THBS1 binds to receptors such as CD36 and CD47, activating relevant signaling pathways that influence the activity of immune cells and angiogenesis in the tumor microenvironment. In the tumor microenvironment, THBS1 plays a complex role: it can inhibit angiogenesis, modulate antitumor immune responses, stimulate tumor cell migration, and regulate the activity of proteases and growth factors in the extracellular matrix. Changes in THBS1 expression occur in various tumors and are closely associated with tumor invasiveness, metastasis, and treatment resistance. For example, high expression of THBS1 in colorectal cancer is closely related to high tumor invasiveness and immunosuppression, with elevated expression levels correlating with poor prognosis. Consequently, THBS1 is a potential target in tumor immunotherapy and anti-angiogenic treatments.
