TNFAIP6

TNFAIP6 (Tumor Necrosis Factor Alpha-Induced Protein 6), commonly known as TSG-6 (TNF-stimulated gene 6), is a secreted glycoprotein of the hyaluronan-binding protein family. Induced by pro-inflammatory cytokines like TNF-α and IL-1β, it forms complexes with hyaluronan (HA) and inter-alpha-inhibitor (IαI) to regulate HA matrix organization and suppress inflammatory cell infiltration.
Dysregulated TNFAIP6 is linked to autoimmune diseases (e.g., rheumatoid arthritis, with elevated levels in synovial fluid), inflammatory disorders, and cancers (e.g., breast cancer metastasis). Recombinant TSG-6 shows preclinical promise for inflammation and tissue repair, while targeted inhibition is under early-stage investigation for cancer therapy.
