IL1RL2

IL1RL2 encodes the interleukin 1 receptor-like 2 protein, also known as ST2L. It plays a crucial role in the immune system. This protein binds to IL-33, initiating downstream signaling cascades through interaction with MyD88 and TRAF6. The ST2/IL-33 pathway is involved in Th2 immune responses and tissue repair processes.
Aberrant expression of IL1RL2 is associated with various diseases, including asthma, atopic dermatitis, and cardiovascular diseases. In drug development, targeting the ST2/IL-33 axis shows promise. Some monoclonal antibodies against ST2 are under investigation for treating these immune - related and inflammatory diseases.
