MTOR

MTOR, mammalian target of rapamycin protein, alias mammalian target protein, Rapamycin receptor, FRAP and so on. It is a multifunctional serine/threonine protein kinase encoded by its own gene in human cells.MTOR is a key regulator of the rapamycin (mTOR) signaling pathway, which is mainly involved in regulating protein synthesis, cell proliferation, metabolism, and autophagy in cells.The mechanism of MTOR's action involves its role as the two different complexes, mTORC1 and mTORC2, of the catalytic subunits, which respond to different nutritional and environmental signals and regulate different biological processes within the cell.
