TPBG

TPBG (Trophoblast glycoprotein) is a transmembrane glycoprotein that is widely expressed in many tissues and cell types, including the placental trophoblast layer, ovary, endometrium, and uterine smooth muscle. In cancer, TPBG is typically overexpressed and has been associated with tumor invasion, metastasis, and prognosis. Several studies have suggested that inhibiting TPBG expression or function can slow the proliferation and invasion of tumor cells. For example, a study targeting breast cancer found that inhibiting TPBG could suppress migration and invasion of breast cancer cells, reducing tumor growth and metastasis (Guo et al., 2019). Another study showed that in hepatocellular carcinoma, TPBG expression was closely associated with tumor invasion and metastasis, and inhibiting TPBG expression could slow the invasion and metastasis of liver cancer cells (Li et al., 2018). Therefore, TPBG is a potential therapeutic target that may offer new directions for cancer treatment. Further research on TPBG's biological functions and molecular mechanisms may help reveal its mechanisms of action and provide theoretical basis for developing new drugs for cancer treatment.
