CEACAM1, carcinoembryonic antigen-associated cell adhesion molecule 1, alias CD66a, BGP, C-CAM.CEACAM1 is encoded by the human CEACAM1 gene, which is located at position q13.2 on chromosome 19.
CEACAM1 mediates cell adhesion through binding to homologous or heterologous ligands and affects a variety of cellular activities, including tissue differentiation, angiogenesis, apoptosis, tumor suppression, metastasis, and regulation of innate and adaptive immune responses.
CEACAM1 plays an important role in preventing tumor growth, epithelial cell proliferation, inducing epithelial cell apoptosis, and regulating immune cell function, and changes in its expression have been associated with the development of a variety of diseases, especially in the field of tumor immunology.
