CLDN3

Claudin-3 (CLDN3), also known as CLDN-3 or Cldn3, is a core component of tight junctions in epithelial and endothelial cells. It mediates intercellular adhesion, maintains barrier integrity, and regulates paracellular permeability to ions and small molecules, supporting cell polarity and tissue homeostasis.
Abnormal CLDN3 expression links to diseases: overexpression in ovarian, breast, and pancreatic cancers correlates with tumor invasion and poor prognosis, while downregulation impairs barrier function in inflammatory disorders. CLDN3-targeted antibody-drug conjugates are under preclinical and early clinical trials for selective cytotoxic delivery to solid tumor cells.
