PTPRC

PTPRC, protein tyrosine phosphatase receptor type C, is a transmembrane protein tyrosine phosphatase widely expressed in immune cells such as T lymphocytes, B lymphocytes, natural killer cells (NK cells) and macrophages.PTPRC regulates a variety of signalling pathways through dephosphorylation, including, but not limited to, cellular processes such as cell growth, differentiation, mitosis and oncogenic transformation. The main signalling pathways it is involved in regulating are T-cell receptor (TCR) and B-cell receptor (BCR) signalling, and modulation of antigen receptor signalling through direct interaction with antigen receptor complexes or activation of Src family kinases. In addition, PTPRC inhibits JAK kinase, which acts as a regulator of cytokine receptor signalling. In a biological sense, PTPRC is essential for maintaining the normal function of the immune system, and its aberrant expression or dysfunction has been associated with the development of a variety of autoimmune diseases and cancers.
