DLL3

DLL3 (Delta-like protein 3), also known as Delta-like protein 3, is a transmembrane protein that plays a role in cell signaling. It is a member of the Notch signaling pathway, which is crucial for cell differentiation and development. DLL3 is involved in intercellular communication and serves as one of the ligands for the Notch receptor. It interacts with the Notch receptor on neighboring cells, triggering a signaling cascade that can influence cell fate decisions, including cell differentiation and proliferation. DLL3 is particularly important in embryonic development, especially during the development of the nervous system. In small cell lung cancer (SCLC), DLL3 is often overexpressed, and this overexpression is considered a potential therapeutic target. Several experimental treatment approaches, such as antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), have been developed to target DLL3 in SCLC cells. Understanding the function of DLL3 in cancer cells holds the promise of driving the development of more targeted and effective treatments for certain types of cancer, offering hope for improved prognosis for patients.
