DLL3

DLL3, a member of the Delta/Serrate/Lag-2 (DSL) family, serves as a Notch ligand. DLL3 is mainly found on the surface of neuroendocrine tumor cells, without expression in normal adult tissues. Its function involves interacting with Notch receptors, typically serving as an inhibitory ligand that prevents the activation of the Notch signaling pathway upon binding to these receptors. This interaction influences the proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis of tumor cells. In particular, DLL3 expression is notably significant in small cell lung cancer (SCLC), where elevated levels correlate strongly with tumor genesis and progression, marking it as a promising therapeutic target for SCLC treatment. The aberrant expression of DLL3 is associated with the development of various neuroendocrine tumors. This association underscores DLL3's significance as both a biomarker and a potential therapeutic target in the treatment of cancers.
