I would like to know which type of klotho is determined by this kit (Full length transmembrane protein OR secreted klotho)?

No matter whether klotho exists in membrane form or secreted form, this kit detects klotho in soluble form. Even if it is membrane form, it can still be detected out as long as we change or close the hydrophobic domain of transmembrane region through corresponding method such as grinding and centrifuging homogenates. Function May have weak glycosidase activity towards glucuronylated steroids. However, it lacks essential active site Glu residues at positions 241 and 874, suggesting it may be inactive as a glycosidase in vivo. May be involved in the regulation of calcium and phosphorus homeostasis by inhibiting the synthesis of active vitamin D (By similarity).
