Description

Recombinant Human Nucleolin/NCL (2-482aa) is a partial-length protein generated in the yeast. It was fused with a 6xHis-tag at the N-terminus.
This NCL protein was validated by SDS-PAGE and LC-MS/MS Analyses. Its purity is over 90%. Based on the roles of NCL, this recombinant NCL protein may be used on the studies of epigenetics and nuclear signaling and to produce antibodies against NCL.

NCL, also called C23, is abundantly expressed in the nucleolus and modulates many biological processes, including nucleolar chromatin, maturation of pre-RNA, rDNA transcription, and ribosome assembly. NCL on the cell surface is also involved in the regulation of proliferation, survival, and apoptosis, especially in cancer cells. The effects of NCL in cancers is to facilitate carcinogenesis, proliferation & survival, and infiltration & metastasis. NCL may thus become a new target for the study of cancer progression and the development of cancer treatments.

Purity Greater than 90% as determined by SDS-PAGE.

Target Data

Function Nucleolin is the major nucleolar protein of growing eukaryotic cells. It is found associated with intranucleolar chromatin and pre-ribosomal particles. It induces chromatin decondensation by binding to histone H1. It is thought to play a role in pre-rRNA transcription and ribosome assembly. May play a role in the process of transcriptional elongation. Binds RNA oligonucleotides with 5'-UUAGGG-3' repeats more tightly than the telomeric single-stranded DNA 5'-TTAGGG-3' repeats.
